For once Colin Farrell isn't the one sticking out for having a dodgy accent in a movie. Who can forget 'Alexander', the ancient Greek epic with a Dublin accent.

But it's Russell Crowe, of all people, who takes the award for Best Worst Accent in this year's Attempts At Accents Awards.

Colin Farrell stars in this new romantic-drama, 'A New York Winter's Tale', a film that seems as hard as beejaysis to grasp. The film, set in 2 different eras 100 years apart, begins in the 19th century where it follows , an Irish burglar who breaks into a masion house upon which he encounters a dying heiress (Jessica Brown Findlay) with whom he falls deeply in love with. However, the Irish charmer has his fair share of skeletons in the closet, as he is on the run from his old boss Pearly Soames, played by Russell Crowe, a violent criminal ganglord.

(Still with me? Keep reading, we're not done yet. The film goes a bit Austin Powers from here..)

But when Mr. Crowe finally manages to hound Farrell's character down, the film is transported into present day. Farrell has now lost his memory and, with the help of Virginia Gamely (Jennifer Connelly), attempts to locate his past. An age old story between good and evil, hope and destiny, miracles and love. Or something like that.

Check out the trailer and see what ye think. Russell Crowe has a go at the Irish talk. He has the head of an Irishman, no doubt, but not so much the tongue. A good effort, mind, but about as convincing as an elephant dressed as a turtle. We still love you, though, Russ. You, too, Colin.

And, just for the record, lads, Colin's about the only man in the world who can get away with robbing a girls house while simultaneously making her fall in love with him. So, don't go taking any notions, now, y'hear.
