With the release of the first trailer for Stephen King's It, a lot of people have been going back to the 1990 TV miniseries and evaluating one against the other.

This side-by-side comparison between the two, both taken from the trailer and footage from the miniseries, shows just how alike the two are and what a difference directors make to the overall vision. Sure, the same beats are there - Georgie's boat goes into the sewer, the balloon in the classroom - but they're all handled and shot so differently and distinctly.

For example, Andy Muscietti's 2017 version leans into the Stand By Me vibe, whilst Tommy Lee Wallace's 1990 version is a bit more on the nose and less flashy.

Take a look.
