If there was one film out in 2015 that there was a general consensus that it didn’t get the recognition and accolades it deserved, it was Sicario.

Neither director Denis Villeneuve nor star Emily Blunt are back for the sequel, but the script is once again written by Taylor Sheridan (Wind River) and both of Blunt’s co-stars, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro, have returned.

They’re joined by Catherine Keener while the new director is Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah).

The official plot synopsis reads: “A few years after Sicario, the boarder war rages and the cartels are more powerful than ever. Matt (Josh Brolin) and Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) return to the US-Mexico border to hunt down Carlos Reyes, a cartel king now trafficking terrorists. What initially feels like a hit job quickly reveals itself as an elaborate CIA shadow war.”
