The first trailer for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has just landed. The film which is a sequel to the reboot of the 2011 Planet of the Apes movie. The movie picks up 15 years later as main ape Caesar leads an army of monkeys in war against the humans. In the trailer the apes seem to take more of a back seat as it focuses on the humans.

The official synopsis reads as, 'A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.'

Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. This is definitely one to watch out for next year. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is due to hit our screens on the 17th July 2014.
