Directed by David Fincher and staring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl is the big-screen adaptation of the worldwide bestseller by Gillian Flynn that took the planet by storm last year and is set to do the same again in film form if this first trailer is anything to go by.

Affleck stars as Nick Dunne, the husband of Pike's 'Amazing' Amy, the daughter of two wealthy authors who wrote a series of childrens' books based on their daughter who mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary. And who does that leave in the lurch but Affleck, who becomes the prime suspect in her suspected murder and gets to do his best Harrison Ford in 'The Fugitive' impression. Hopefully all our reactions to the film will be better than Tommy Lee Jones'.

Anyone who's read the book knows that the adaptation could be challenging due to the narrative setup, but it looks like Fincher has taken the transfer from page to screen in his stride. And if the poster and trailer are anything to go by, he's going to nail the tone of this firmly on the head. Charles Aznavour’s 'She' has never sounded so creepy.

Also starring Neil Patrick Harris, Missi Pyle and Tyler Perry, Gone Girl is set for release in the US on October 3rd.
