Want to watch movies for 24 hours and help raise money for charity?

Ever wondered how long you could last in a cinema watching movies? Five hours? Ten hours? How about TWENTY-FOUR HOURS?

On October 9th at Point Square in Dublin, ODEON Cinemas and entertainment.ie are hosting Ireland's very first marathon cinema event - Cinemathon.

We'll screen 24 hours of movies - everything from Jurassic Park to Scream to Before Sunrise - and help to raise money for Aware. What's more, the person who raises the most amount of money on the day actually gets to pick one movie that we'll watch. It doesn't matter if it's Legally Blonde 2, Gone With The Wind, Ernest Goes To Jail, Paul Blart: Mall Cop - whatever it is, we'll screen it if you raise the most amount of money.

On top of all that, we'll have some amazing prizes to give away during the day, not to mention an early screening of Irish horror The Ritual, starring Rafe Spall.

If you want to take part in Cinemathon, tickets are €40.00 for the day and you'll automatically be registered with iDonate.ie and all the money you raise goes directly to Aware. For more information, just contact our Movies Editor at [email protected].

ARE YOU SAYING IT'S MOVIES NON-STOP FOR THE WHOLE TWENTY-FOUR HOURS?

We'll stop at various points throughout the day for food and quizzes, but yes, the idea is to watch movies for 24 hours.

CAN WE BRING BLANKETS, PILLOWS, ONESIES, ETC.

Yes, you're encouraged to bring anything that'll help you get comfortable. Just make sure to bring it home with you when you're done!

WHAT ABOUT FOOD AND DRINK?

You can bring food and drink with you if you'd like, but we'll have lots of food (popcorn, pizza etc.) and drink on the day for you if you get peckish during the day.

I'M UNDER 18, CAN I ATTEND CINEMATHON?

Unfortunately not. Cinemathon is only open to those over the age of 18.

HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?

You can purchase tickets here. The price is €40.00 per one seat. You'll automatically be registered with iDonate.ie and you'll be given your own sponsorship page where people can sponsor you.

WHICH CHARITY ARE YOU RAISING MONEY FOR?

We're raising money for Aware, which provides support for those with depression, mood and bipolar disorder. When you purchase your ticket for the day, every cent you raise is donated directly to Aware. The ticket price covers rental fees for the movies we'll watch during the day.

CAN WE DO A HALF-DAY AT CINEMATHON? WHAT IF WE NEED TO LEAVE DURING THE DAY?

The idea is that you'll be in for 24 hours and tickets are sold on the basis that you'll commit to 24 hours. If something comes up during the day that urgently requires you to leave, obviously you can leave. However, the idea is that you're in for the 24 hours.

WHAT ABOUT SLEEPING DURING THE MOVIES? WHAT ABOUT TOILET BREAKS AND STUFF?

If you end up falling asleep during one of the movies, it's OK and obviously, toilet breaks and the like are allowed!

CAN I BRING MY MOBILE PHONE WITH ME?

You can, but we'd ask you be respectful of people around you. The Twitter hashtag for the event is #Cinemathon.

WHAT MOVIES WILL YOU BE SHOWING?

(deep breath) Jurassic Park, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, When Harry Met Sally, Scream, Before Sunrise, Airplane!, Groundhog Day, Almost Famous, The Ritual AND whoever raises the most amount of money before 9AM on October 6th gets to pick one movie.
