Catherine Zeta Jones got the legs out, Jennifer Hudson belted the notes out and pretty much the entire cast of Les Miserables were out last night to pay tribute to the musicals at the 85th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood's Dobly Theatre.

Ushered on stage by Mr Movie Musical himself, John Travolta, Catherine opened the magical number as Velma Kelly, almost 10 years since her performance in Chicago won her her own Oscar. She gave a rather rousing rendition of All That Jazz before making way for everyone's favourite Dreamgirl, Jennifer Hudson. Sorry Bey, we love you lots, but Jen stole the show and thoroughly deserved the Oscar for her role as Effie White in the 2006 classic.

And then the moment that everyone had been waiting for. Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Samantha Barks, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne (thankfully sans vomit), Aaron Tveit, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron-Cohen emerged from the depths of the Dolby to belt out Les Miserables classic One Day More. The audience loves it, we loved it, heck, everyone loved it. Did you?

Long live the movie musicals!
