That sound you hear is the bubble bursting, as the Saw franchise posted its lowest ever opening weekend. Going up against the much-buzzed-about Paranormal Activity turned out to be a bad move, as the $15,000 chiller coined a further $21 million, to take its total to a hugely impressive $61.5 million and counting. Saw 6, meanwhile, could only place second with $14.1 million - less than half of the previous four sequels. It will still turn a profit, as all of the Saw movies are produced for less than $20 million. Elsewhere, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant bombed, taking a measly $6.2 million and pretty much seeing to it that there will be no franchise for that book series.
