Tom Hardy's going back to the comic-book villainy, this time as Marvel mainstay villain Venom AKA Eddie Brock.
The news broke just over an hour ago, with Hardy confirmed as taking on the role with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer behind the camera. Sony has set a release date for October 5th, 2018 and has slated production to kick off before the end of the year.

There's no word yet on plot, but it is known that Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner will be working on the screenplay. Although one of their previous credits includes the so-so Amazing Spider-Man 2, they also worked on the screenplay for High Fidelity, Con-Air and TV series such as Lost and Alias.
Of course, this isn't the first time that Venom has appeared on screen. Topher Grace played the character in Spider-Man 3 against Tobey Maguire, but less said about that, the better. The question now is how long before Tom Holland and Tom Hardy square off against one another in the eventual Spider-Man Vs. Venom film?
