Tom Hanks may very well star in book adaptation, In the Garden of Beasts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the rights to the book, about William Dodd, the United States' reluctant and mild-mannered ambassador to Berlin in 1933, has been optioned by the Forrest Gump star. Dodd and his family at first naively navigated life in Nazi Germany, his socialite daughter had romantic affairs with a Gestapo official and a Soviet spy, but they slowly gained awareness of the mounting brutality around them. Erik Larson wrote the book the proposed flick would be based on.

No director is yet attached, but Hanks will produce the film as well as star in it.
