Tim Burton has been announced as the man who will head the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The Beatlejuice and Sweeney Todd helmer will follow in the footsteps of Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese, in deciding what film from world cinema deserves the prestigious Palme d'Or this year. The director spewed, "After spending my early life watching triple features and 48-hour horror movie marathons, I'm finally ready for this. When you think of Cannes, you think of world cinema. And, as films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true." I thought all of his movies were warped dreams come through?

Anyhow, this year's festival runs from May 12th for about two weeks. Burton has the Johnny Depp starring Alice in Wonderland due in the next couple of months.
