This weekend US box office totals are in and, as usual, they're a pretty good indicator of what's going to be popular when the films hit Irish screens in a few weeks. Easter-themed animated comedy Hop still tops the list taking in a total of $21.7million, a 42% drop from the previous weekend. Next in line was Russell Brand's remake of the old Dudley Moore flick Arthur, which raked in a paltry $12.6million despite showing on 3,700 screens across the US. This is Brand's first top-billed role in Hollywood and, at least, ensures that the former MTV host is now dominating the box office considering he provides vocal duties to the aforementioned Hop.

Elsewhere, the Saoirse Ronan starrer Hanna took in $12.3million and the Dennis Quaid surfing movie Soul Surfer bagged an estimated $11.1million. However, the big loser of the weekend was the James Franco, Danny McBride and Natalie Portman comedy Your Highness which only brought in about $9.5million on 3,000 screens.
