How do you judge the career of an actor? Is it by the accolades they pick up along the way? Or is it from their overall body of work?
Very few actors have a CV that doesn't feature at least one stinker but then there are a few that make regular appearances in truly awful material.
Vox compiled a list of the actors that make the most terrible movies and overall the list seems about right with perhaps one or two surprise inclusions.
The criteria for the list was that each well-known actor must have performed in at least 10 films, at least one of which has grossed over $30 million (adjusted for inflation) and been released in the past 5 years
1. Rob Schneider (69% negative, 31% mixed) - Avg. score: 30
2. Adam Sandler (54% negative, 38% average, 8% positive) - Avg. score: 36
3. Ashton Kutcher (53% negative, 47% mixed) - Avg. score: 37
4. Kevin James (53% negative, 40% mixed, 7% positive) - Avg. score: 38
5. Taylor Lautner (50% negative, 50% mixed) - Avg. score: 39
6. Cuba Gooding Jr. (44% negative, 40% mixed, 16% positive) - Avg. score: 42
7. Hayden Christensen (40% negative, 47% mixed, 13% positive) - Avg. score: 44
8. Gerard Butler (41% negative, 41% mixed, 18% positive) - Avg. score: 44
9. Charlie Sheen (20% negative, 70% mixed, 10% positive) - Avg. score: 45
10. Jason Statham (27% negative, 55% mixed, 18% positive) - Avg. score: 45
11. Vince Vaughn (30% negative, 53% mixed, 17% positive) - Avg. score: 46
12. Sylvester Stallone (28% negative, 48% mixed, 24% positive) - Avg. score: 46
13. Christian Slater (38% negative, 35% mixed, 27% positive) - Avg. score: 46
14. Josh Hartnett (29% negative, 52% mixed, 19% positive) - Avg. score: 47
15. Nicolas Cage (40% negative, 35% mixed, 25% positive) - Avg. score: 47
The top three are hardly surprising, particularly Sandler who's output in the last decade has been horrifying to put it kindly. Nicholas Cage, Sylvester Stallone and Christian Slater would be the surprise inclusions given that they have released some terrific work over the years but clearly as far as this scale as concerned the bad significantly outweighs the good.
