The Ireland on Sunday programme at the Irish Film Institute in Temple Bar are premiering The Suffering Kind on September 14th. The Ireland on Sunday initiative is a monthly showcase for new Irish film and at 1.00pm they will be screening multi-award-winning director Kevin Liddy's latest short along with another of his cinema shorts, Horse.

In his long-awaited new work, The Suffering Kind, Kevin moves away from the stark Irish countryside which defined his earlier films (Horse, Soldier’s Song and Country) to an urban setting in upstate New York. Filmed by Oscar-nominated Declan Quinn, this intimate drama about an inner city priest and a sanitation worker trying to maintain his sobriety, is about the power of delusion and the longings that haunt us.

Kevin’s first cinema short, Horse, is a muscular, poetic evocation of 1960s rural Ireland about a father's inability to communicate with his young son, magnificently photographed by Donal Gilligan. Kevin will also participate in a post-screening Q&A.
