Fresh off the back of 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' coming to Netflix, another production inspired by the Henry James novella 'The Turn of the Screw' is on the way.

'The Others', which hit cinemas in 2001, is the latest flick to be set to get the remake treatment.

It starred Nicole Kidman as the mother of two children living in a remote country house on the British island of Jersey.

She starts to suspect there are "others" in the house too...

The film proved to be the horror hit of the summer.

It did amazingly at the box office hit, grossing more than $200 million against a $17 million budget.

'The Others' also earned a number of awards.

These included several Goya awards (the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars) for Chilean director Alejandro Amenabar.

According to reports, Universal Pictures has optioned the film's rights from Sentient Entertainment, which acquired control of the rights in a heated bidding war earlier this year.

It is unknown if the new film will borrow the original plot, or change the story (such as that delicious plot twist).

Producers are meeting with writers to adapt the script.

Nicole Kidman next stars in HBO Max series 'The Undoing' opposite Hugh Grant.

She will also star in 'The Prom', which hits Netflix in December, opposite Meryl Streep and James Corden.
