The Academy president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, told reporter's that they will not be inviting Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz back to the awards after this year's Best Picture fiasco.
The two PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants at the centre of the epic disaster will not be participating in future shows and the Academy's 83-year-old relationship with PwC is under review, she added.
The accountancy firm has repeatedly taken responsibility for the events at the Oscars on Sunday night, with Cullinan coming under scrutiny after it emerged he tweeted and later deleted a photo of Emma Stone as she walked off stage after her Best Actress win, and as more photos emerge of Cullinan backstage allegedly breaking protocol in the run-up to and during the Best Picture presentation.
"He feels very, very terrible and horrible. He is very upset about this mistake," PwC chairman Tim Ryan told Variety on Monday. "While I am concerned I hope we will be judged on how quickly we reacted and owned up to the issue."
Both Cullinan and Ruiz are still partners in the firm.
