Although it's another while away from our screens - you won't see First Man until November at the earliest - you can be guaranteed that there's a good chance it'll make for some Oscar discussions.

In fact, its director is the man behind Whiplash and La La Land. Its screenwriter is the man behind Spotlight and The Post. It's got a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jon Bernthal, House Of Cards alum Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, and it's about space. Who doesn't love space?

While you might think it's going to be something along the lines of Apollo 13 or The Right Stuff, which is to say a noble but drawn-out kind of thing, it won't be. In an interview with the Boston Globe, screenwriter Josh Singer made it pretty clear that First Man is going to be an action movie.

"We have at least five major set pieces that are action, and if your heart rate doesn’t go through the roof, if you’re not gripping the edge of your seat the entire times, I’ll be shocked," said Singer. "Damien (Chazelle, director) said, ‘I want to be terrified the entire time.’ It’s one of the earliest things we talked about. Neil’s heroism isn’t because he landed on the moon, it’s because he had the wherewithal to live through it all."

Gosling has been spotted with a period-style haircut and while it's only a matter of time before we see a trailer, there's already a lot to like about this movie.
