The most pirated movies of 2015 have been revealed

Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic Interstellar was the most illegally downloaded movie of 2015.

Expicio, an IT company specialised in detecting copyright infringements on the Internet, released a report detailing the top 10 most pirated films of the year and the figures show that illegal downloads in general are up.

Interstellar was downloaded a whopping 46.7 million times from the start of the year until December 25th. By comparison, The Wolf of Wall Street, which was number one on Expicio's 2014 list, was downloaded 30 million times. This represents a 56% increase.

The increase is consistent right across the two lists for both years. The number 2 and 3 movies for 2015 were Furious 7 (44.7 million downloads) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (41.5 million downloads) respectively.

In comparison, 2014's number 2 was Frozen (29.9 million downloads) and number 3 was RoboCop (29.8 million downloads).
