This year's Sundance Film Festival is near kicking off, and will run from January 19th to 29th. Naturally, the Paddy's will be in attendance…

Robert Redford's baby played host to huge hit home grown productions, In Bruges and The Guard in recent years and in 2012 will have premieres from the likes of (the very cool and humble) Domhnall Gleeson and Cillian Murphy. Gleeson is part of the ensemble cast of James Marsh's Dublin shot IRA thriller, Shadow Dancer, which is headlined by Clive Owen; while Murphy co-stars opposite Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro in supernatural thriller, Red Lights. Those two movies and the Irish indie, Grabbers, starring Ruth Bradley, will be looking for distribution in the US.

Sundance is still a big deal in Hollywood, and the likes of Winter's Bone have come out of there in recent years to huge critical and financial success. Fingers crossed that said Irish productions do the same.
