Video game adaptations are still seeking a solid cinematic excursion, with the Resident Evil series ticking along to a niche audience and Assassin's Creed outright bombing both commercially and critically.

But one series that could've worked very well was 'Hitman' which has already had two versions - one with Timothy Olyphant in 2007 and another a couple of years back with Rupert Friend. Both did OK numbers at the box-office but were nonetheless seen as missed opportunities.

Now, Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn has revealed he pitched a version of the film to producers, but they didn't wanna go with it.

Fair point re GOTG, but given that the incoming sequel has one of the highest ratings from a test screening Disney has ever seen, those producers might be kicking themselves.
