Another day, another announcement for nominees for something or other... this time The Directors Guild of America (DGA) have announced their choices for helmer of the year: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) and Gus Van Sant (Milk) will fight it out to be voted by their peers as having directed the best picture of the year. The DGA generally get it right when it comes to a precursor for the Oscar race, so this one is worth watching very very closely. Fifty-four times out of 60, the DGA winner for feature film has gone on to win the Oscar for directing.
