After Predators was announced, I felt genuinely excited at the prospect of a Robert Rodriguez helmed horror/action hybrid, as I think he's an incredibly talented director, with an undoubted flair for both genres. But it's since come to light that Rodriguez will not direct the film, instead just write and produce, with helming duties set to go to The Descent and Dog Soldiers director, Neil Marshall. Now, there's nothing wrong with Marshall, I think he did a good job with both those movies; but this just doesn't stoke the flames of excitement as much as Rodriguez did. Maybe it's because his last film, Doomsday, was a mess when it tried to deliver on both the action and horror front. Nothing is final, but Marshall is definitely "in talks."
