Pillows big enough to hide behind at the ready: Lionsgate has announced that its reboot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be released in October 2012.
Takers director John Luessenhop will helm the remake of the horror feature which is to be made in 3D, for added scariness. Carl Mazzocone will produce.
Rerported by Digital Spy, Mazzocone is looking forward to bringing the story, based on true events back to the cinema screen: "I'm excited to reconceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy," This statement was released through Shock Till You Drop.
"Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D," said Maccocone. Yikes, the only reason most of us can bear to watch such terrifying movies is because we're safe in the knowledge that the killer can not come out of the screen, what hope have we got for a good nights sleep now with chainsaws in 3D?
Bill Moseley, who's no stranger to a good horror, starring in both The Devil's Rejects and House of a 1000 Corpses, is the only actor to have been cast so far. A few token shrieking ladies are sure to join him soon.
The film was previously released in 2003 and starred the gorgeous Jessica Biel. She's unlikely to come back for this one however as she later described the filming process as one of the hardest experiences of her life. Wouldn't really blame her!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is due out in cinemas on October 5, 2012.
