'The Suicide Squad' already has one of the biggest casts in recent memory, including names like Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi, Michael Rooker, not to mention a few more that we can't remember.

Late last night, director James Gunn confirmed another name for the cast - Sylvester Stallone. In an Instagram post with Sly, Gunn said that "(despite) being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is."

Stallone's role in the movie is as yet unclear, however it's been suggested that he will have a voice role in the movie, as opposed to an on-screen role. This isn't the first time Stallone has been directed by Gunn, however, having had a supporting role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2' as Starhawk.

Details on the movie are light, but the general vibe of it so far appears to be something closer to an action-comedy than whatever it was that David Ayer was doing with the first one. Gunn has already cited movies like 'The Dirty Dozen' and other '60s and '70s war movies as an influence on the movie. In fact, the movie's poster is more or less a take-off of the poster for the 1968 war movie, 'The Green Berets', starring John Wayne.

Dropping Sylvester Stallone into the mix, seeing as how he's Rambo and all, feels like it's more than just a nod in that direction.

'The Suicide Squad' is set for release on August 6th, 2021.
