Believe it or not, it's been almost ten years since Surf's Up hit our cinemas and brought the idea of surfing penguins into popular existence.

While the animated comedy wasn't exactly a huge success, it did make back its budget and threw on an extra $49 million on top of it at all. That most likely explains why it took so long for a sequel to be made and, most likely, why the WWE is now co-producing the sequel with Sony.

What's more, WWE has agreed to have a few of its top stars - including Triple H, The Undertaker, Vince McMahon, Paige and John Cena - take leading roles in the film. The story sees Cody Maverick (voiced by Shia LaBeouf in the first one) attempt to convince the Hang 5 - that's the five wrestlers mentioned - to help him find a legendary surf spot known as The Trenches where the biggest waves on the planet can be found.

Yeah, we've no idea either. However, the thoughts of seeing a penguin 'Taker is too good to miss. Also, what's the chances of seeing a cameo of Ric Flair in there as well? Or even (whisper it) Hulk Hogan?

Probably not to the first one, DEFINITELY not to the second one. Also, there HAS to be some reference to wrestling in there. Surfing and wrestling aren't even on a similar calibre of sport, so how does this work? Will there be a Hell In A Cell match at some point in the film? Will Cactus Jack turn up and get thrown off the top of said Hell In A Cell?  That's the kind of animated comedy with penguins and wrestlers we wanna see.

Surf's Up 2: WaveMania (that's actually the title) is scheduled for a 2017 release.
