Yeah, we're just as confused as you.

It's been reported that Stephen Merchant, the co-creator of The Office and Extras, has signed on for an unspecified role in the third and final Wolverine movie. Merchant will join fellow Englishman (well, actually he's from Swaziland) Richard E. Grant in the cast. It's not yet known what kind of tone they're looking to take with the third Wolverine, however more than a few details have slipped out about the plot.

The understanding is that the third Wolverine will be set in the future and follow the Old Man Logan storyline from the comics. The truly warped story takes place in a far-flung future where supervillains have conquered the United States and Wolverine is now a heavily aged man who takes on a job from Hawkeye - yes, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye - to deliver a package across the United States.

The package, as it turns out, is a vial of super-serum that will be used by a team of new Avengers to create an army to battle the monstrosities who've taken over civilisation. Long story short, the whole thing ends with Logan and Bruce Banner's son teaming up to take on the villains.

Like we said - it's warped.

Most likely, the story will take on certain elements from Old Man Logan. As to what role Merchant plays, we couldn't guess. We do have one request - get Barry from Eastenders in there. He's a good sort.
