After two back-to-back (brilliant) films about vigilante "superheroes" came and went - Super and Kick Ass - we now have a documentary on our hands, looking at the real life characters who genuinely dress up and hit the streets to fight crime.

We meet several of the US's most famous masked heroes including MR. XTREME, a 33-year-old security guard officer by day, but "a goon’s worst nightmare by night." The film follows MR. XTREME on his nightly patrols through the streets of San Diego. There is also a group called NEW YORK INITIATIVE - a foursome of "Real Life Superheroes" living together that tackle crime fighting, one Brooklyn neighbourhood at a time. Lead by a chap called ZIMMER, they take to the streets and try to lure criminals out of hiding with their controversial "Bait-Patrols" in order to put a stop to crime in their community and make the streets safe for the residents.

There is an event taking place in Film Base in Dublin this Friday, where the film will be screened, and you can then take part in a Skype session with the filmmakers. Purchase tickets here, and have a look at the trailer below.
