When your awards show host has better things to be doing on the other side of the Pacific, who ya gonna call? Russell Crowe. Well, that's what the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts did anyway.

AACTA Awards host Hugh Sheridan pulled out of the ceremony after a scheduling conflict popped up, so the lads got on the blower to the Les Mis star who is already hosting the International version of the event in LA on January 26th. Russell was only too happy to do the honours at home in Sheridan's absence, and sure why wouldn't he be, we're talking the Aussie Oscars here lads.

"I'm equally honoured to represent the Australian industry in LA as host of AACTA's International Awards as I am to return home to celebrate the success of my peers at the 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony in Sydney,' Crowe said in a statement."The ceremony will be entertaining and fast-paced, whilst honouring the fantastic film and television our nation is producing."

And sure after some lovely words like those, why wouldn't you bring him home to do the honours lads?
