Sigourney Weaver says that her action hero Ripley "deserves a rest".

Starring in four of the six 'Alien' movies in the franchise, Sigourney Weaver as Ripley has cemented the actress as one of the greatest action heroes of our generation. However, at the age of 70, it seems unlikely that we'll catch Weaver's Ripley kicking alien ass anytime soon, or ever.

Weaver confirms to Empire magazine that Walter Hill, the director of 'The Warriors' and '48 Hours' and producer on every 'Alien' movie to date, sent her a 50-page treatment for "a different take on a fifth Ripley film". That happened within the last year and a half, but the actress is not interested.

Details on the storyline have been kept under wraps, but speaking about the script, Weaver told Empire: "I don’t know. Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest."

With Weaver potentially out of any further 'Alien' movies in the future, it seems inevitable that the series will get a reboot at some point down the line. Director Ridley Scott has voiced wanting to return to the franchise, but with squeaky-clean Disney now holding the reigns over the 18+ Fox franchise, whether that ever happens is another story.

The most recent 'Alien' prequel movies 'Prometheus' and 'Alien: Covenant' failed to win over audiences at the box office, with the latter seeing Katherine Waterston starring as Daniels - a blatant Ridley rip-off.

Be sure to tune into Josh Gad's 'Reunited Apart' YouTube series this Monday afternoon, where he'll be chatting to the cast of 'Ghostbusters', including Sigourney Weaver and Bill Murray.
