It some tenuously great news, Marvel have reached out to Shane Black about taking over the reins on Iron Man 3, reports Heat Vision Blog
Jon Favreau confirmed a few months ago that he wouldn't be returning to the franchise, and talk quickly turned to his possible replacement - Black was top of that list. Despite only having one film under his belt as director, that film was the downright brilliant Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, where he worked with Tony Stark himself Robert Downey Jr. But he does have a background in action having scripted the likes of Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout - the latter of which is seriously underrated.
At the moment nothing has been confirmed, but discussions are taking place. Black or Slither and Super helmer James Gunn would be my top choices, so would be delighted with either of those.
