Sean Penn sure is a busy boy lately, having recently picked up his second Oscar for his turn in Milk. Now, the surly, but hugely talented thespian is in talks to star in the action vehicle Cartel, based on the 1993 Italian film La scorta. Penn would play a dude who "journeys to protect his son" after his wife is clipped by a ruthless Mexican cartel. We're sure lots of pensive close-ups and noteworthy explosions occur thereafter. The film is to be directed by Asger Leth, who will direct with Imagine's Brian Grazer producing.  Leth's only other outing as director is the documentary Ghosts of Cité Soleil.
