There had been many rumours surrounding the live-screen adaptation of Anime classic Ghost In The Shell, with Wolf of Wall Street's Margot Robbie being a potential candidate.
Indeed, the film itself seemed to be somewhat ropey - much like Jaume Collet-Serra's take on fellow classic Akira.
Now, however, it appears to be setting itself in stone. Scarlett Johansson has signed on to play the lead role.
For those who don't know what Ghost In The Shell is about, here's the skinny - a cyber-terrorist called The Puppet Master is being hunted by a team of police officers, led by one Major Motoko Kusanagi. However, the closer she gets to The Puppet Master, the more it's revealed that there's a massive cover-up surrounding him.
The Wachowskis have cited Ghost In The Shell as a massive influence and Steven Spielberg has been trying for several years to get the film off the ground.
At one point, he himself was attached to direct, however that job has since gone to Rupert Sanders, who previously directed Snow White & The Huntsman.
No release date has been scheduled for Ghost In The Shell, although an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
