Ryan Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon will star together for the first time to headline the independent film, Big Eyes.

Based on real life couple Margaret and Walter Keane, who's distinctive "pop eyed" paintings became famous in the 60s, Walter took credit for the paintings even though it was actually Margret who made them. Naturally, they split and a court case ensued. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will write and direct the film, with Tim Burton set to produce for his Ed Wood scripters.

In a press release the duo said, "We are ecstatic to have this dream cast for our dream project. Walter is a larger-than-life antihero - charming, funny, dangerous, and a little crazy. Ryan will knock it out of the park. As for Reese, she will be perfect as Margaret - soulful, decent, transforming from vulnerability to learning to fight for herself."
