Russell Brand wants to make the transition from actor to director fairly sharpish. The comedian spoke to Asscioated Press about his next two films.

He told them, "They're both comedy vehicles and I really want to direct them because I think it's a good way, as a comedian, to showcase what you do."  When I spoke to Brand last year he was talking about a film he'd written, where he and another guy would masquerade as priests to avoid criminals. He mentioned that Adam Sandler was producing that one, but also that it may not happen because of the tenuous nature of these productions in Hollywood.

If the problem with those films was a lack of director, then they may have plugged that void if this quote is to be taken seriously. Brand will next be seen in comedy remake, Arthur, which is out in a couple of weeks.
