Sam Rockwell, Emma Roberts and Rob Corddry are all set to star in the high school comedy, The Winning Season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is about has-been coach (Rockwell) who is given a shot at redemption when he's asked to run the local high school's girls basketball team. Roberts is cast as a player he befriends, and Corddry (brilliant on The Daily Show, not so funny on film) will play the school's principal. The film is being directed by James Strouse, who had a hit at Sundance last year with the John Cusack drama Grace Is Gone, which was about a single father dealing with his wife's untimely demise in Iraq - not exactly the obvious precursor to a high school comedy. It's a solid cast though, with Sam Rockwell very much deserving of a leading commercial role.
