Extremely talented Donnie Darko writer/director Richard Kelly will next helm the thriller Corpus Christi reports Variety.

Kelly is yet to direct a hit movie, with Southland Tales full on bombing, and The Box going down the same road - despite being well helmed, and unfairly slated. 'Christi' sounds like much more of a straight up effort than the young helmer's previous flicks. According to Darkhorizons.com The Texas-set story "concerns a mentally unstable Iraq war veteran who forges a strange friendship with his boss, the wealthy and politically ambitious owner of a supermarket chain."

Kelly is currently looking for funding for the flick, but already has some of the cash in place.
