Oh Hollywood. You never cease to amaze us.

You may remember we reported last month that a guy took out a full page ad in The Hollywood Reporter to pitch his idea for the next Die Hard movie?

Well it sort of worked because that guy now has a movie deal. It's not for the next Die Hard movie but still. Eric D. Wilkinson spent thousands of dollars on the ad which detailed his pitch for a new Die Hard movie and although he hit the headlines for a couple of weeks, many people, including Wilkinson himself, expected nothing to come of it.

Now it looks like it could have been money well spent as Hollywood producer Avi Lerner (Olympus Has Fallen and The Expendables) contacted Wilkinson looking for more material. Wilkinson has since agreed a deal with Eclectic Pictures, which has a first-look arrangement with Lerner’s Millennium Films. The company has optioned his high concept screenplay The Devil about the mythical flying creature said to have terrorised residents of southern New Jersey for centuries.

Fair play to Wilkinson. Nobody expected anything to come from his gamble and not only did he catch the attention of a successful production company but he now has an option agreement.

Expect The Hollywood Reporter to have a new full page movie pitch ad every week for 2016.
