Simon Cowell is moving into the film production business by backing a rags-to-riches story based on the life of opera singer Paul Potts, the winner of Britain's Got Talent last year. Justin Zackham, writer of the schmaltzy The Bucket List, is attached to pen the screenplay which is provisionally called One Chance. Potts was a mobile phone salesman until he auditioned for the show on a whim and bowled over the judges, including Cowell. He has since become somewhat of a media darling and videos of his performances have been watched by thousands on YouTube. The film will likely be a comedy-drama following Potts as he struggles through obscurity before getting his big break. Breathtakingly original idea there.
