Baltasar Kormakur's new film, Everest, focuses on a perilous expedition to the highest mountain in the world with a group of mountaineers.

Based on a true story, Everest stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Keira Knightley, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington and Emily Watson and is already gaining traction for this year's Oscars.

We spoke to mountaineers Hannah Shields and Ian Taylor, both of whom climbed Everest in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Hannah narrowly reached the summit in 2003, however she returned in 2008 with a group of 22 climbers and took part in a six-week trek to the top. Ian was the youngest Irishman to reach the summit and did so after being told by professional climbers that he wasn't the right material.

As you'll see in our interview, it takes a certain kind of individual to take on Everest.
