Brad Pitt is being tapped to produce and star in the film Lost City of Z, about an expedition to find an elusive city somewhere in the Amazon. According to Variety Pitt would play Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who in 1925 was having a longwinded look about for the city of Z, only to get well a truly munsen’d and never return home. Ever since that failed expedition 80-odd years ago, numerous other groups have tried to follow the path of Fawcett and failed. Flick is based on a manuscript by David Grann, a writer for The New Yorker who is basing his book on an article he wrote for the magazine in 2005. Paramount moved quickly to buy the rights when Pitt expressed an interest in the role. He has a strong relationship with the studio, where his Plan B production company is based; they also release his intriguing sounding reteaming with David Fincher, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in the States in December
