Enjoyable monster movie, Piranha 3D is to get a sequel, despite opening with just over $10 million at the American box-office this passing weekend.

The Alexandre Aja helmed flick carries a production budget of just $24 million, so once worldwide grosses are taken into account it should be a moderate enough sized hit to justify a sequel hitting theatres. I doubt that Aja will be back to direct, or that the budget will be over $20 million this time out - The Weinstein's will be hedging their bets. It's gotten strong reviews so far, so word of mouth may yet see it over perform.  

I wasn't mad about the 3D, but it's a fun flick that is worth checking out if you're looking for some mindless fun. The original sequel, which was James Cameron's helming debut, centred on flying piranha...
