Since bursting onto the Hollywood scene in 2013 with The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie has established herself as A List star thanks to starring roles in films like Suicide Squad.

Now it looks like the 26 year old Australian has found a project that could really test her dramatic chops. I, Tonya will see her play disgraced figure skating champion, Tonya Harding.

For those not familiar with the story, Tonya Harding became embroiled in one of the biggest sports scandals in American history back in the early 90s when her ex-husband and bodyguard, Jeff Gillooly, hired a hitman to injure Harding's rival, Nacny Kerrigan, just weeks before the 1994 Winter Olympics.

It makes for incredible drama and it's fair to assume Robbie could be hoping the film could see her get some awards attention.

Judging by some set photos that have surfaced online, it looks like the recently married star is going all in for her performance. The physical transformation she has already undergone for the role is pretty impressive.

OK so it's not exactly at a Charlize Theron in Monster level of a transformation (Robbie appears to be wearing padding to resemble Harding rather than gaining weight) but it's a far cry from her glamorous look in The Wolf of Wall Street.

I, Tonya also stars Sebastian Stan and Allison Janney.
