He's a long way away from Jordan Catelano in My So-Called Life, folks.

The cast picture for Suicide Squad was posted by director David Ayer, showing Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney et al a script read.

However, Jared Leto was noticeably absent from said photo, which led some to possibly speculate that he was in makeup or even.... gasp... he'd pulled out.

Not so, thankfully, as Ayer posted this image earlier today and - for the first time - showing Leto with a head of green hair.

Die-hard comic book fans will know that this pose is reminiscent of The Killing Joke, a famous one-shot comic from the 1980s that was written by Alan 'I Wrote Watchmen But Now I Make Weird Porn Comics Now' Moore.

Look, he might have the look and everything, but we're still not 100% sure about Leto as Joker. In our mind, it's Ledger, Nicholson, Hamill and Cesar Romero from the 60's TV show.

We're more than willing to have that changed with Leto's performance, but we're just... reticent about it all. Let's hope for the best, eh?
