You can’t say that Christian Bale gives any less than 100% when it comes to physical commitment to the roles he plays.

He has undergone some major body transformations for roles in the past, such as in 2004, when he dropped from 180lbs to about 120lbs to portray an anorexic, insomniac factory worker in The Machinist. To play Batman in 2008's The Dark Knight, he bulked up to about 220lbs.

Having won an Oscar in 2010 for his role in The Fighter, the actor is generating Oscar buzz for his next role in Hostiles after it showed at the Telluride Film Festival.

The actor turned heads with his figure at the festival, which reflects his preparation for a new role as former VP Dick Cheney in a film titled Backseat.

The movie will see him reunited with Adam McKay and Steve Carell, who he was directed by and co-starred opposite in The Big Short. Backseat will no doubt be a big awards contender too.
