Matthew Perry is the follow up the disappointment of (the excellent) Studio 60 being cancelled by starring and producing a new pilot for American cable network Showtime (Weeds, Californication, Dexter) titled The End of Steve. Perry will play an "egomaniacal local talk show host who is on a reluctant path to redemption". Pete Tolan who produces the criminally under watched Rescue Me has signed on to develop and produce the show. Showtime do some fantastic stuff, and this type of sardonic character seems like a perfect fit for Perry, who always struck me as a comedically repressed Bill Murray just waiting to unleash the goods. We’ll let you know if/when it’s picked up and if it’ll be gracing our screens this side of the pond.
