After the critical success of Paul Schrader's 'First Reformed', Paul Schrader and Ethan Hawke are teaming up for a Western - with Willem Dafoe attached, as well.

'Nine Men From Now' is currently being written by Schrader, with Hawke and Dafoe attached to star. Plot details are light, but given that this is very early stages, you most likely won't see anything concrete for quite some time.

What makes all of this so interesting is the fact that Paul Schrader's best work in years involved Ethan Hawke - so seeing them reunite for a genre that Hawke in particular is so passionate about is pretty damn cool.

Obviously, the Oscar nominations haven't yet been announced, but there's a lot of goodwill out there for 'First Reformed' and the likelihood is that it'll be nominated for something along the way - be it Best Original Screenplay or a Best Actor nomination for Ethan Hawke.

Either way, the idea of a Western written and directed by the guy who did 'Taxi Driver', 'Raging Bull' and 'First Reformed' is way too intriguing to ignore.
