After all those rumours, Paul Rudd, star of Anchorman (and the star of many females' dreams, OK maybe just mine) has been confirmed for realz as Ant Man. Hurrah!

Edgar Wright (director of The Cornetto Trilogy) will be at the helm of the next big thing from the folk at Marvel. It's an interesting change of tack for both Rudd (and Wright) who we're more used to seeing in a variety of comedy guises; finally he's getting something meatier, though we expect there will still be quite a few laughs to be had. And no better man than Rudd to play the scientist-turned-superhero Henry Pym (otherwise known as Ant Man).

Though Paul Rudd claims to have been pretty much in the dark on such rumblings, big-shot producer at Marvel, Kevin Feige, confirmed the news yesterday, saying: "When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star... We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we'd found the right guy... We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he's going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."

So Paul Rudd as a superhero, how'd you fancy that?
