Bourne and United 93 helmer Paul Greengrass is to direct a biopic of Martin Luther King called Memphis, according to Deadline.com.

Set in the days leading up to Dr. King's assassination in Tennessee in April 1968, it will look at the time late in the man's life when his marriage was faltering, his outspokenness on the Vietnam War cost him his relationship with President Lyndon B. Johnson, and his recent interests put him on the fringes of the rising Black Power movement.

Greengrass has written the film himself, apparently from his own extensive research. It's a cracking role for any actor, so it'll be interesting to see who's cast. Will Smith has already played one iconic African American, same for Denzel Washington...
