10. It's A Wonderful Life
James Stewart is contemplating suicide on Christmas Eve, when an angel appears to show him how life would have been if he'd never existed. The quintessential Christmas movie, overflowing with joy and love, and at sixty-five years old it’s the perfect classic movie to introduce to young kids.

9. Love, Actually
A thousand bajillion actors star in this criss-crossed comedy/drama about the trials and tribulations of finding, being in, and falling out of love around Christmas. Perfect for a fan of rom-coms, because this is eight all rolled into one and then tied up in a big, seasonal bow.

8. Elf
Will Ferrell plays the human embodiment of The Christmas Spirit as a human brought up as an Elf and then released in the wilds of New York to find his real father. When Buddy The Elf’s innocence collides with “the real world’s” cynicism, we dare you not to explode laughing!

7. Scrooged
Bill Murray brings Charles Dickens’ story to the modern era as his evil TV executive gets visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve, the same night he’s planning a live showing of A Christmas Carol. Hilarious stuff thanks mostly to Murray acting his most callous.

6. Gremlins
When Billy receives Gizmo the Mogwai as a Christmas present, and then inadvertently breaks ALL THREE RULES you NEVER break when caring for a Mogwai, his entire town is soon over-run with little green monsters. Equal parts funny, scary and gross.
