Every now and then you hear of a movie that you just know to make a little mental note of; Child 44 is one such movie. First of all, Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace and Gary awesome Oldman are already attached. Secondly, Philip Seymour Hoffman is said to have his eyes on a starring role too. If such actors are the ones enquiring about a role, instead of being approached by the film company first, then you know you're onto something rather special.

As for the plot, Child 44 sounds like quite the head turner, taking form as a Soviet-era political thriller, and adapted from a book by the very same name. It's set in the 50s (of course) and sees Hardy's character as a disgraced MGB agent who finds himself a target of the government when he begins exploring a series of child murders. Thrilling stuff for shiz.

Oh and there's more, Ridley Scott's a producer on the movie too. Are you in? 'Cause we're in.

At the helm of this star-studded ship is Daniel Espinosa. He did Safe House with Denzel Washington.

Here's hoping the stars align for Hoffman because he's one of our personal favourites. To see him share screen time with the ever-impressive Tom Hardy would be just divine.
